Some of the side effects that I have experienced due to taking methotrexate are fatigue and brain fog. As a full-time student, this negatively affects my productivity and studying habits, so I have taken to drinking coffee to offset my tiredness.
Growing up, I thought I knew what arthritis was. It was what caused witches’ fingers to be knobby and twisted, it was what caused hunchbacks, misshapen body parts, and it is a sign of being old. Arthritis was a problem that my grandparents and people of their age dealt with.
It was very interesting for me to learn about the medical terminology behind the conditions that I had, and how/why they occurred. This was the first time I had x-ray pictures of my own body, so I thought I would share my experiences!
I’ve heard a lot about how diets can affect autoimmune disorders. Friends and family have told me stories ranging from uncles who went raw vegan to cure their colon cancer, co-workers who fight Lupus with plant-based diets, to cousins who cut out sugar to reduce acne. Naturally, I became curious if my rheumatoid arthritis could similarly be managed through a better diet.
